my so-called fabulous life: it's Denver Fashion Weekend!

Last night was opening night for Denver Fashion Weekend and I can't tell you how excited I was to be there and take part in the city's developing fashion scene. Overall it was a fun night with good looking people, great drinks, a little snow (yes...snow!) and an interesting runway show. So how did my fellow fashion lovers do on night one? Well, if you remember from one of my earlier posts, I didn't know exactly what to expect from the crowd because Denver tends to be quite casual - but I'm proud to report that the #fashiondenver crowd brought it in full force to kick off the weekend. Attendees rocked a nice mix of styles - some fashion street-style/model off duty type looks, some "going clubbing" looks and even a few casual looks were represented and it was all good, because that's how Denver rolls. Personally, I had a bit of a clothing crisis as I was getting ready but in the end I was happy with what I picked out and felt comfortable at the event. The fantastic whiskey sour that I picked up two seconds post arrival certainly didn't hurt matters either.

Did I mention that it snowed? It snowed. Such is springtime in Denver, but that scrapped my hot pink Louboutin plans for the night, ha. And to be honest, I'm kind of glad! Each night of Fashion Weekend consists of a cocktail party, then the shows, then the after party...so I just may continue to opt for more reasonable footwear the next two nights.

The shows scheduled night 1 were for "national" brands - Mini, Ducati and Burton. Ok, to be honest, before this I didn't know that Mini and Ducati did clothing. And I still wouldn't say that Mini "does" clothing exactly, it was more like a line of T-shirts and bags with the Mini logo or inspired designs. But they were cool enough and if I were a big enough Mini fan, I'd consider snapping up a few. And before I wrap this up, I have to give an honorable mention to Burton's presentation which was pretty darn fun with all of the models walking barefoot, with freshly painted toenails - even the guys! And the women had unique, head-wrapping braided hair styles. All in all it was well done, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what Denver's local designers have in store for us on Saturday night.

I am not amused by the snow, Denver. Good thing I brought a scarf!

Outfit of the (snowy) night...Zoe Karssen "Adieu" tee, Sigerson Morrison boots, Gap jeans, Lutz & Patmos cardigan, Chanel handbag.

And a few runway pics.
