working on my fitness

So I may have mentioned that I'm back at working hard on my fitness. Ugh, ok, that's my "cute" way of saying I'm trying to lose weight. There, I admitted it. Let's blame it in part on having a desk job. Anyway, I was sick for over a month and needless to say, that majorly derailed my plans! I got in a workout here or there over the last couple of weeks, but this week I've made it a top priority to stick to a regular schedule. As you can imagine, the adjustment to working out again has been painful - I've got a lot of ground to recover. But I am super motivated...this is important to me because, well...on a superficial level - I find it more fun to play with fashion when I'm slimmer and fitter (note: I did not say skinny). Plus I've got a handful of goals (and some secret projects, deets to come later) that would require me to be in a certain kind of shape and this blog is supposed to be all about me doing what I want to do with my life, so here I go. So thanks lovelies for the extra motivation and accountability ;).

I've got a lot coming up on the social calendar over the next several months and I want to be ready! I've had too many moments over the last year where I thought, next time I'll be better prepared. Well, I'm having no more of that nonsense. To start, I'm doing Pilates 3-4 days a week, Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, some extra cardio (I choose from elliptical, kickboxing or dance workouts) and I would love to throw regular yoga in there as well. Some of my yoga options have a cardio effect, so some days I'll skip the pure cardio for the cardio challenging yoga. On days where I'm particularly well organized and energetic, I guess I'll be working out for around 2 hours which sounds bananas, but my main goal is to be consistent and to remember that something is better than nothing and to simply DO SOMETHING every day. So my bare minimum even for busy or lazy days is 20-30 minutes. The schedule for the 30 day shred (30 mins) is 6 days on, 1 day rest, so that's my main focus for the next month. I have a 20 minute Pilates mat workout and a few 20-30 minute yoga videos so I really have no excuses here. I just have to remember to not beat myself up if that's all I do on a day. I tend to be an all or nothing type personality so this will be one of my biggest challenges.

Btw, one of the upcoming happenings is a swimsuit-required vacation. Seriously, it's the type of thing where I'd look ridiculous not being in a swimsuit. So if all else fails, I can use swimsuit fear to power me through my workouts ;)
