my so-called fabulous life, week 1: notes from old Amanda

Hmm, so this week has looking pretty low key so far. With the Olympics on over the last two weeks, all I wanted to do is stay home and watch every moment of every sport that I'd normally not pay any attention to, like curling! And bobsled! And biathlon! And cross-country skiing! Well now that it's over I can unglue myself from the TV. I'm still on that decluttering kick (see my first post - lucky girl) and I just went through a ton of old papers I had lying around. And what did I find? Well, I tend to write a lot of lists or important thoughts in an attempt to focus and get motivated. I found one such note from I'd guess about 3 years ago...

Ahhh, this is kind of hard to share because it is just so personal. When I see things like this - notes from my past self, trying to get motivated to be more of who I want - sometimes I go numb. I wrote this and then spent a few more years bored and not making any changes. I could not have been any clearer about what I wanted, so what was I afraid of? Actually, there were a few factors involved in the delay in addition to my being a bit of a scaredy cat. But I suppose what's most important is that I'm working on it now and it's actually a lot easier than the old me probably thought it was going to be. I think it's interesting to note that I had a different job at the time I wrote this. So it's been wayyyy too long since I've had a job I enjoyed.

Alright, so in pursuit of my so-called glamorous life, so what do I have lined up for myself this week? Ehh, let me get back to you on that one. I don't have a whole lot planned just yet but it is restaurant week here in Denver and there are so many fantastic places to try. I did have an impromptu dinner date last night with a new girlfriend and it was so, so good. Seems my new favorite place is a little spot called Beatrice & Woodsley on South Broadway. The space is really cool - it is dimly lit, lined with booths and the main dining room looks like tree trunks are growing right through it. And most importantly, the service is impeccable (friendly and attentive) and the food is creative and freakin' delicious.

My Restaurant Week dessert - yummmmm. That reminds me, I still have to work out today...

It worked out really well because we met up right after I got my hair done at one of my favorite places to be - the incomparable Matthew Morris Salon. So I had some beauty time then some girl time with some good food so I'd say it was a pretty fantastic day. Now let's see what pans out for the rest of the week!
